Wedding day
We will outline the preparation schedule at the rehearsal and finalize it before the wedding. Generally, I start with the bride 3.5 hours before the ceremony/departure to the venue. We are usually done in about 2.5 hours, so there is time to get into the dress, take pictures, get the last little things ready and everything is calm and stress free. Nerves usually work that morning even without the time crunch.
During the last moments before the ceremony, I will help you with whatever you need. The best man doesn’t have a flower? I’ll get it. Daddy forgot he was coming to pick you up? I’ll run and get him. I’ll just be there for you and then hand you over to the altar attendant. Depending on the package you choose, I either pack up and leave during the ceremony or stay with you all day. After the ceremony, I arrange for a photo shoot, during which I assist (straightening the dress, looking after the hair etc) and for the second dress to be changed, perhaps altering the look. Everything is by appointment.
Why is it taking so long?
Two words: endurance and precision. Whether it’s a more expressive or natural makeup, fixing everything takes time. Also, natural skin doesn’t mean fewer products. And those “natural, simple ripples” need the right shooting and cooling technique to stay beautiful for as long as possible. All the little details that then make the perfect whole take time, care and patience. So please be patient and I promise the result will be worth it.
What about moms, bridesmaids and other wedding guests?
If other bridesmaids (mothers, bridesmaids, maids of honor, etc.) are interested in the makeup, I always get them ready before the bride, and they have to take into account that they may have to sit a little longer. The number of bridesmaids is then directly related to the time of the ceremony. If there are too many bridesmaids to get ready and I can’t fit them all in, I may call in a handy colleague. However, it is better to report this as soon as possible so that the most skilful ones are not already full.
I always prepare the bride last, so that her makeup is as fresh as possible and I can check that I am sending her to the ceremony absolutely perfect and happy.
Recommendations and request in conclusion
During the wedding preparations often come to say hello to grandmothers, aunties, etc. Just like when the bridesmaids come to give you a surprise, I always withdraw and give you space to experience and enjoy everything. However, consider delegating to someone who will only let specific people in during the preparations. Too much traffic can make preparations drag on. That’s why it’s important to have time to spare. Your cooperation is also needed to make everything work and be really relaxed. Please arrive on time for the makeup session, and once you are in my chair, stay with me and let me take care of you. Take care of the things that need to be done and enjoy a moment of peace. Your reward will be that you will walk down the aisle excited, maybe a little nervous, but certainly not stressed about not getting caught up until the last minute.
